Granite
Educator is History Teacher of Year
Jan Rolan,
a fifth and sixth grade teacher at Granite School District’s
Oakridge Elementary School in Millcreek, is Utah’s 2011 National
History Teacher of the Year. Rolan received $1,000 and
educational materials for her school, and will compete for the
national title later this year. The award honors elementary
teachers, selected on the basis of criteria such as creativity
and imagination in the classroom.
The
Granite Education Association recognizes and honors
superior teachers who are members, with a track record of
improving student achievement, using innovative instructional
strategies and making a difference in the lives of their
students.
